Thomas Gibson’s Time on CBS’ Criminal thought finished.
“Thomas Gibson has been fired from Criminal thought. The creative details of how the character’s exit will be resolved on the show will be announced at a later date,” producers ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios said in a statement.
The dismissal follows news that the actor – who has been in the veteran procedure since its inception – kicked a writer at the set. As of Thursday, Gibson was facing a two-episode suspension following the incident. His character was written in both episodes, and now moves on to writing from the series where he has starred for 11 seasons.
The incident occurred while Gibson was directing an episode of the upcoming series 12nd season when he had an argument with the timekeeper, who also happened to be on set. Insiders say they had bickering and temper tantrums on both sides, in which Gibson is said to have instinctively reacted to aggression and kicking the writer.
“I love Criminal thought and have put my heart and soul into it for the past 12 years,” Gibson said in a statement to CHEAP on Friday. “I was hoping to be able to see it to the end, but that won’t be possible now. I just want to say thank you to our amazing writers, producers, actors, team, and most importantly, the best fans a show can hope to have. “
Gibson has signed on to produce with ABC Studios/CBS Television Studios for the entire 12th season. This is the second incident for Gibson throughout the series; he pushed another producer a few years ago and had to take anger management classes, even though he wasn’t suspended.
“There were creative differences on set and disagreements,” Gibson said in a statement to CHEAP on Thursday. “I’m so sorry it happened. We all want to work together as a team to make the show the best it can be. We always have and we always will.” Gibson was fired from the series given when Criminal thought went through a bit of a creative change for season 12. The series said goodbye to its former host Shemar Moore last season, and will see Paget Brewster return for season 12. Brewster was a regular on the CBS television series from seasons two through seven. She was credited as a special guest in season nine and returned last season as part of a storyline that saw star Moore leave the series after 11 seasons. To fill the void, the drama cast Miami rate Adam Rodriguez as a regular series. He will debut in season 12 premiere.
