Dr. Anthony Fauci Calls Brad Pitt ‘SNL’ Emmy Nod for Impersonation “Surrealistic”

Dr. Anthony Fauci is delighted for Brad Pitt and his Emmy Award nomination for playing the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases on Saturday night livebut he admits his focus is elsewhere.

“It didn’t go to my head,” Fauci said Thursday when speaking to the Associated Press. “It’s a bit surreal. I think it’s interesting and a little bit weird.”

The White House novel coronavirus pandemic adviser added, “I’m not distracted by that. I really have to focus like a laser on the things for which I am responsible.”

The Oscar-winning actor played Fauci in a chilling premiere in late April; the respected doctor joked that he wanted Pitt to play with him SNL when asked about his acting preferences.

Pitt played a version of Fauci, who had to debunk a lot of bad news from President Donald Trump and tell people not to eat disinfectant. At the end of the clip, Pitt breaks out of character to thank all first responders and healthcare workers for their tireless efforts.

“I think he did a great job,” Fauci said afterward. “I’m a huge Brad Pitt fan, and that’s why when people ask me who I want to play, I always mention Brad Pitt. He is one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job.”
