Drake Issues Statement on Astroworld Tragedy

Drake broke his silence on the tragic events that occurred at the Astroworld Festival in Houston on November 5 when a mass collision resulted in the death of eight people and dozens of injuries.

The Canadian rapper, who was a featured guest on festival founder Travis Scott’s headline set, took to Instagram Monday night to release a statement. “I have spent the past few days trying to turn my mind around this horrible tragedy. I hate using this platform to express a subtle emotion like grief but this is where I find myself,” Drake wrote.

“My heart breaks for the family and friends of those who lost their lives and anyone who is grieving. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will serve in any way I can. God be with you all,” he added.

Scott on Saturday said he was “absolutely devastated” by the tragedy.

“My prayers go out to the families and all those affected by what happened at the Astroworld Festival,” The statement posted to social media continues. “Houston PD has my full support as they continue to consider the tragic loss of life.”

His partner Kylie Jenner said Sunday that neither of them was “aware of any deaths” until the event was over.

The reality TV star and mogul said the pair were “devastated” when at least eight people were killed in the mob.

Jenner’s half-sister, Kim Kardashian West, posted a statement on her Instagram story Monday night, saying she is “absolutely heartbroken for the lives lost and anyone injured.” at Astroworld”.

“Like all of you, our family is in shock at the tragedy,” the statement continued. “We are praying for all the victims, families and loved ones affected by our prayers for healing – as well as Travis, who we know cares deeply about his fans. his grave and was truly devastated.”

An estimated 50,000 people were at the concert Friday night at NRG Park when the incident began shortly after 9 p.m., according to the Houston fire department. It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crowd to start moving toward the stage while Scott was performing, but authorities said they would review the drone and ground footage.

Scott has pledged refunds to all festival ticket buyers and said he will cover funeral costs for the victim’s family.

On Sunday, Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry filed a lawsuit against Scott, Drake, Live Nation and NRG Stadium, on behalf of one of the victims. Drake did not comment on the lawsuit.
