Veteran sailor who worked with the director Alejandro G. Inarritu‘S Avenger said the director watched Birdman could become epic and worthy of an Oscar. Some also say that making movies has been by far the worst experience of their careers – “a hell on earth”, as one outspoken person put it.

To take advantage of the window light, manufacturing built during a massive rehearsal with the full crew and cast (except for the main actors) on site. Leaving little time for the crew to prepare, Inarritu decided that a nude figure should be dragged along the ground. The director recalls taking care of the actor’s genitals and spreading a plastic sheet to protect him. “I asked him a few times, ‘Are you okay?’ ” speak Inarritu. Each time he asked, he said that the actor replied that he was prepared to try another scene. “I’m super thoughtful because he’s a nice 22-year-old guy,” says Inarritu. While sailor said that the actor was in pain, Inarritu dismissed it as “a lie.”

The director said safety was always a priority and no serious injuries occurred on set. An actor who was soaking in freezing water had torn a set of dry clothes, volunteers Inarritu, “But he was taken care of for 10 minutes after finishing.” One sailor said some of the collars of the dry suit were cut so they wouldn’t show on the film, but the director’s first assistant Scott Robertson denied it and said that only one of the actor’s dry suits had his throat cut, and that it was only to aid him after he reacted adversely to cold water. Overall, Robertson said, there was a lot of maneuvering and planning to protect the cast and crew. “We had a safety meeting every day of the movie, sometimes multiple times,” he said. “Nobody got hurt on film with all the crazy things we did.”

Weston said he and the owner of New Regency Arnon Milchan attributing the challenges of filming to the ambition of the filmmaking process. “We are in uncharted territory,” Weston said. “Everyone involved in this project, both the cast and crew, understands this is going on, and we all support Alejandro and his vision. The performances were phenomenal and the movie was great. Arnon and I would be honored and lucky if Alejandro made his next movie and the one after that with us. “
