The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has canceled its fall 2021 date due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Louisiana, festival organizers said Sunday.
Traditionally held in the spring, it was scheduled to run from October 8 to 10 and October 15 to 17 this year. The festival was canceled last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Due to the current exponential increase in new COVID cases in New Orleans and the region and the ongoing public health emergency, we are saddened to announce that the 2021 edition of the United Nations The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, scheduled for October 8-17, 2021, will not go as planned,” said festival organizers. said in a statement.
The statement added that next year’s festival will take place within its “traditional timeframe” and is set from April 29 to May 8.
Ticket holders for both festival weekends, including those who have had tickets since 2020, will receive an email with details on the refund and ticket transfer process, the release said. All tickets for Wednesday, October 13, will be automatically refunded.
Jazz Fest is an annual celebration of the music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana held at the Fair Grounds Racecourse.
