Sean Penn Ran Into ‘Fast Times’ Jeff Spicoli Inspiration After Decades

Oh my God!

After decades, Sean Penn finally stumbles across the person from his past, on whom he relies on the iconic Jeff Spicoli Quick Time at Ridgemont High.

The Oscar-winning actor recently reminisced about his illustrious career with GQbegins with the beloved 1982 Cameron Crowe classic starring Penn as the beach-scarlet teenager.

Penn never identified his muse – in fact, the actor says the man didn’t even know he was the inspiration (that could change if he reads about the interaction).

“I recently met him for the first time [since childhood],” Penn said. “We were walking a trail to and from the beach. And this man with his wife and children walking on the road, who spoke very clearly. He greeted me. He has the advantage of seeing my age, so he knows that it’s me. And then he had to introduce himself. And I couldn’t believe it was him.”

In the same segment, Penn talks about his first audition for the film being a total disaster, but nevertheless, casting director Don Phillips saw something in him.

“He was an actor lover,” Penn recalls. “He saw things that you probably wouldn’t even show. So he convinced them to see me again; push and push. And next thing I know, I got the part.
