‘The Mandalorian’ Star Gina Carano Fired Amid Social Media Controversy

Gina Carano won’t be back Mandalorian or Star Wars galaxy after sharing a social media post implying that being a Republican today is like being a Jew during the Holocaust.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “However, her social media posts that defame people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Carano has also been turned down by UTA as a client, an agency spokesman confirmed.

On Wednesday, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano was trending after an Instagram post from an outspoken conservative actor and former mixed martial artist was met with backlash. The post was later deleted, but the screenshot was widely shared by users on social media, who called for her to be fired from the hit Disney+ movie Star Wars recital.

Much Mandalorian spin-offs are being worked on by executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, including Rangers of the New Republiccould have Carano in the lead role.
